The Gentle Vet.

I'm Alessandro, an MRCVS-registered vet, and I provide home euthanasia because I believe saying goodbye should be calm, private and centred around the pet and the people who love them.

I graduated as a vet in 2017 and have spent years working in clinical practice, including surgery, emergency work and the everyday care of cats, dogs and other companion animals. Over time, I became increasingly aware that the final appointment could be one of the hardest experiences for both the pet and their family.

A busy waiting room, a car journey when a pet is already struggling, unfamiliar people and the clinical environment can make an already painful day even harder. I wanted to offer another option: bringing the vet to you, so your pet can remain in the place where they feel safest.

At home, your pet can stay on their favourite bed, sofa, blanket or in the garden. Family members can be present if they wish. I am there to support you as well as your pet through this final stage of their life. We take the time your pet needs, and I explain what is happening before we begin, so you are never left wondering what comes next.

I use a calm sedation-first approach and draw on years of experience with intravenous access and clinical procedures. My aim is always to minimise anxiety and discomfort and to give you time with your pet before and after they pass.

The Gentle Vet is deliberately small. When you contact me, you speak directly to me. I personally carry out the visit, answer your questions and help arrange aftercare where needed.

There is a moment when you feel they have had enough, and you know that it may be time to let them go. You do not have to have everything figured out before you call. If you are unsure whether it is time, we can talk through what you are seeing and what is worrying you.

There is no perfect way to say goodbye. My role is simply to help make your pet's final moments as peaceful and comfortable as possible.
