Home euthanasia for cats in London
Cats often feel safest at home. When a cat is approaching the end of their life, bringing them to a veterinary practice can be stressful, especially when they are painful, weak or frightened. I can come to you instead.
The Gentle Vet provides private home euthanasia for cats across London. You speak directly with me from the first message.
If you are worried that your cat is suffering or you think the time may have come, contact me and I will let you know what I can offer.
On their favourite blanket, in a sunny spot, on the sofa or in your arms — the setting is up to you.
I have extensive experience handling cats and will keep the visit as calm and familiar as possible.
What happens during the visit?
We talk first
I'll ask about your cat, what has changed and what is worrying you.
Sedation first
A sedative is given first so your cat becomes deeply relaxed before the euthanasia medication.
You say goodbye
You can stay close, stroke them and say goodbye in your own way.
Will my cat be frightened?
I use sedation first and explain what is happening and what you may notice.
Can everyone be there?
Yes. You can choose who is present. Some families want everyone together; others prefer a quiet goodbye with just one or two people. There is no right way.
How much does cat euthanasia at home cost?
Home euthanasia is £200 for cats. See the full pricing guide for the exact prices and additional costs.
What happens afterwards?
I can help arrange cremation or burial afterwards. We can talk through the available options when you are ready. If you would rather not transport your cat yourself, I can collect them, provide temporary cold storage and transfer them to the crematorium for £70.
I'm not sure whether it is time
You do not need to be certain before you call. If your cat is losing interest in life, struggling to breathe, unable to move comfortably, no longer eating or drinking, or simply seems to be having more difficult days than good ones, we can talk about what you are seeing.
